Rep. Clarke Hosts Appropriation Seminar- Nostrand Park Crown Heights’ Virtual Town Square
On Monday January 25th Congressional Representative Yvette Clarke hosted an appropriations workshop for local business and non-profits. This workshop was intended as a way of giving organizations unfamiliar with the appropriations process insight into how appropriations generally work and the application process.
Facilitated by Rep. Clarke’s deputy chief of staff Algene T. Sajery and City Park Foundation’s Nicole Johnson, Monday’s workshop was attended by upwards of one-hundred people from various businesses and community organizations in the 11th district. The range of business owners included representatives of a childcare agency and a healing center. Similarly diverse were the non-profits in attendance which included Friends of Firefighters and directors of the Church Avenue BID. Once Ms. Sajery and Ms. Johnson completed their respective presentations and Q&A, another element of Monday’s workshop became evident as attendees started circling the room, networking, exchanging business cards and initiated relationships that could potentially lead to fruitful partnerships.
Monday’s workshop was the first in a series being hosted by Rep. Clarke and her local office. The next workshop in this series is a Small Business Legal Clinic taking place on Monday February 1st from 5pm – 7pm. All of these workshops are held in the 1st floor of Rep Clarke’s local office at 123 Linden Boulevard. February 1st’s Small Business Legal Clinic is Free, but reservations are required.
