Congressional Creators Caucus

Reps. Yvette D. Clarke (D-NY) and Beth Van Duyne (R-TX) have launched a new, bipartisan effort to bring sorely needed fresh perspectives into the public policy conversation: the Congressional Creators Caucus.

Creators are anyone using digital technology to produce and share unique content online directly to their audiences; they are digital entrepreneurs building businesses both on and offline. The rapid advancements in technology and the rise of social media platforms in the 21st century have brought about the emergence of not only creators but a thriving new sector: the Creator Economy, the vibrant ecosystem of online content creators operating on digital platforms, and the diverse businesses that have been spawned to support them.

Our Objective:

Bring the voices and perspectives of online content creators into the public policy arena to educate Members of Congress on the unique challenges they face as the new start-ups of the modern economy.

Policy Issues Impacting Creators:

  • Access to Capital and Financial Services
  • Tax Reporting and Compliance
  • Vocational Training for Creator Economy Jobs
  • Data Privacy
  • Intellectual Property and Copyright
  • Platform Accountability and Algorithmic Transparency
  • Monetization and Payment Transparency
  • Content Moderation
  • Online Harassment
  • Competition and Market Power of Platforms
