U.S. Rep Yvette D. Clarke (NY-11) issued this statement regarding the swearing in of Governor David A. Paterson.

“It brings me great pleasure to congratulate David Paterson in his new post as New York’s Governor,” offered Rep. Clarke.  “I am looking forward to working with him on initiatives to insure the state of New York continues to thrive.  Mr. Paterson brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the governorship. His experience in the New York State Senate and as New York State’s Lt. Governor has prepared him to do extremely well as Governor.”

David A. Paterson now serves as New York’s 55th governor, the state’s first Black governor and the nations’ fourth Black governor.  Prior to his appointment has Governor, Mr. Paterson had served as the minority leader of the state Senate.

U.S. Rep. Yvette D. Clarke represent’s New York’s 11th Congressional district located in central Brooklyn.
