Rum Battle Meeting in Washington

Obama Administration and Caribbean to meet in Washington to discuss USVI and Puerto Rico subsidies to rum producers on their soil, Refund of U.S. Excise Taxes threatens rum industry in DR. Jamaica, Barbados and their Caribbean Neighbors, Long Sought meeting finally scheduled

Talks to examine the controversial and possibly illegal U.S. rum subsidies are scheduled at last.

 

 

After almost a year of effort by Caribbean island-nations and coastal states, the Obama Administration has finally agreed to meet today (Wednesday) in
Washington with the region’s top diplomats to discuss the multi-million U.S. subsidy program to rum producers in the U.S. Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico.
