Rep. Yvette D. Clarke’s Statement on the Passing of Elizabeth Edwards

Today, Congresswoman Yvette D. Clarke released the following statement on the death of Mrs. Elizabeth Edwards:

“On behalf of myself and the people of the 11th Congressional District of New York, I extend my condolences to the family of Mrs. Elizabeth Edwards. We were fortunate to have Mrs. Edwards visit Brooklyn during an election year, as she campaigned for John Edwards. Her commitment to the poor was evident through her sheer presence in our community. This nation will remember her as a strong political force, a lawyer, mother, author of two autobiographical books and a dynamic role model for women across this nation. Her graceful presence and strong will has been unrivaled, particularly in her battle with cancer. Again my thoughts and prayers go out to the Edwards family. We stand with you as you mourn the loss of this great woman. ”
