Rep. Yvette D. Clarke’s Statement on Computer Security Assessment

Today, Congresswoman Yvette D. Clarke, Chair of the House Homeland Security Subcommittee on Emerging Threats, Cybersecurity and Science & Technology, released the following statement on proposed actions by the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) to strengthen the security policies governing computers and wireless devices in the U.S. House of Representatives.

“The House Chief Administrative Officer has provided the House with an assessment of the security policies governing the House cyber infrastructure at the request of House Leadership. Leadership requested the assessment after confidential documents were leaked in a cyber security breach. The leak occurred during Cyber Security Awareness Month during which I hosted several House staff briefings on IT security. I applaud the CAO for taking steps to better protect our cyber ecosystem.”
