Congresswoman Yvette D. Clarke released the following statement regarding the release of Galid Shalit, after spending over five years in captivity:
“I am pleased to hear that Sergeant First Class Galid Shalit was finally freed after five years in captivity. His return represents a glimmer of hope and I join with Sergeant Shalit in hoping his release helps pave the pathway towards peace. It is fitting, that this breakthrough comes at a time of renewal on the Jewish calendar. I look forward to celebrating more milestones as we take the necessary steps towards progress, healing the wounds in all of our communities for years to come.”
