Rep. Yvette D. Clarke’s Statement on the Passing of Geraldine Ferraro

Brooklyn, NY- Today, Congresswoman Yvette D. Clarke released the following statement on the passing of Geraldine Ferraro:

“On behalf of the people of the 11th Congressional District and myself, I join the rest of nation in extending our most heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of the Honorable Geraldine Ferraro as we mourn her passing and celebrate her life. She was best known for becoming the first woman nominated as a Vice Presidential candidate of a major political party. Growing up in New York, she joined the Queens County District Attorney’s Office in 1974 and later served the people of Queens as a member of the House of Representatives. She helped change America’s perception about women’s leadership on a national level. Her political acumen, extraordinary vision and unique voice, helped inspire women like myself to become public servants. She has left our nation more enriched by her audacious pursuit for justice and equality. The Honorable Geraldine Ferraro will truly be missed.”
