Rep. Yvette D. Clarke Hosts the11th Congressional District’s USAID Haiti Procurement “How To” Briefing
An Overview of the USAID Procurement Process
Brooklyn, NY – On Saturday, April 24th from 9 AM to 12 PM, Rep. Yvette D. Clarke will host a U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) Haiti Procurement “How To” Briefing at Calvary Cathedral of Praise, 45 E. 8th Street, Brooklyn NY, 11218. (Between Caton Place and Kermit Place) There, USAID will provide an update on its relief efforts and present a program overview of their procurement process. This tutorial by USAID is informational only and will not provide contracts onsite, nor will it guarantee anyone a USAID contract. Rep. Clarke encourages constituents and business owners across the city to bring their expertise and experiences to discuss how New York City can support and partner with USAID in its contracting initiatives related to Haiti.
Rep. Clarke has been working diligently with USAID to facilitate an initiative that would include the full participation of Haitian companies, Haitian management, a trained Haitian workforce, Haitian non-governmental organizations (NGO) and others who are sensitive to the plight of the nation.
“Together we must advocate for a homegrown effort led by the Haitian Diaspora. The international response to this crisis has been commendable, but Haiti cannot be restructured without the resources, knowledge, and aspirations of Haitians, the African Diaspora and those sensitive to Haitian culture. Haiti’s new dawn can be realized, but only if the country is rebuilt for Haitians by Haitians and their allies,” stated Congresswoman Yvette D. Clarke.
