Rep. Clarke’s Statement on Rosh Hashanah

Today, Congresswoman Yvette D. Clarke released the following statement in recognition of the celebration of Rosh Hashanah:

“L’Shanah Tovah to all of the residents of the 11th Congressional District of New York, who celebrate Rosh Hashanah or the Jewish New Year. Rosh Hashanah is a time for joy, a time for new beginnings, celebrations, and counting blessings. It is an honor to represent one of the most diverse districts in the nation and it is clear to see that the Jewish community has contributed greatly to the cultural diversity in Brooklyn.

“As the Jewish community celebrates the New Year, let us continue to honor and respect those of all of faiths and beliefs. Let us stand on the universal principles of goodness that we all, no matter what the religion can agree upon, principles that include helping those in need, fighting for humanity and serving for the common good. The diversity within this community is a source of strength and we will not allow anyone to use it as a source of division.

“Again, L’Shanah Tovah to all who observe this holiday and let us continue to celebrate the rich diversity that is intricately interwoven throughout this community.”
