Rep. Clarke’s Statement on Eid Marking the End of Ramadan

Today, Congresswoman Yvette D. Clarke issued a statement in recognition of Eid-Al- Fitr (Eid), the Muslim holiday which marks the end of Ramadan:

“I have the honor of representing one of the most diverse districts in the nation, with a large Muslim population. As residents observe Eid, ‘Eid Mubarak’ to you as you mark the end of Ramadan. Brooklyn is a melting pot with an enriched culturally diverse Muslim community. It is an honor to acknowledge all of the religious traditions and customs that are practiced in the 11th Congressional District of New York that I so proudly represent.

“As the Muslim community marks the end of Ramadan, let us recommit ourselves to honoring and respecting all the faiths and beliefs that are within our community as well as throughout the nation. Let us not forget that all of us stand on the universal principles of helping those in need, fighting for humanity, and serving for the common good. Let us continue to celebrate the diversity within this community.”
