Rep. Clarke Participates in Congressional Delegation Visit to Haiti

Clarke will be among members of the Congressional Black Caucus on a trip to Haiti to meet with President René Préval, along with the Haitian people to discuss firsthand the effects of escalating food costs that has led to public unrest.

“I am looking forward to visiting Haiti to see firsthand the effects of the food crisis on the Haitian people,” stated Congresswoman Yvette D. Clarke.  “Haiti is one of the countries hardest-hit by the food crisis, which is not only a grave humanitarian crisis – it also threatens international security and the political stability of developing nations. It is my hope that we will come away from this trip with a thorough understanding of the issue and can begin formulating the appropriate next steps that this Congress needs to take to address this crisis.”

Congresswoman Clarke represents New York’s 11th Congressional districted located in central Brooklyn.
