Rep. Clarke Joins Colleagues to Introduce A Bill to Redeploy National Guard

U.S. Representative Yvette D. Clarke (NY-11), voted in favor of providing resources for domestic priorities and against any measure that would add to the funding of the escalation of the war.

“My opposition to this illegal war is steadfast,” commented Rep. Clarke.  “I support the efforts of our brave women and men in the military but believe it is high time Iraq’s civil war becomes Iraq’s priority and not America’s. It is my belief that benchmarks without timelines breeds more of the same.  My constituents are tired of more of the same.”

The U.S. Troop Readiness, Veterans’ Care, Katrina Recovery, and Iraq Accountability Appropriations Act, 2007 (H.R. 2206) was voted on in two amendments.  H.R. 2206 makes emergency supplemental fiscal year 2007 appropriations for military operations in Iraq and Afghanistan as well as specified activities, including international and security-related activities, of the Departments of Defense (Military, including funds for Iraqi and Afghan security forces), of Justice, of Energy, of Homeland Security, of Defense (military construction and base closure), of State (including international peacekeeping operations), related agencies, and the House of Representatives and the Government Accountability Office (GAO).
