Congresswoman Clarke’s Statement on Veterans Day

On Veterans Day, Congresswoman Yvette D. Clarke released the following statement in honor of the men and women who have bravely served in our armed forces.

“Today we celebrate the contributions of the men and women who answered the call to service in our armed forces. Their service demonstrates an extraordinary commitment to the freedom we share as Americans. In recent years in Iraq, Afghanistan, and around the world, great sacrifices have been required of the members of the armed forces and their families.

“We have a responsibility to support our veterans and their families not only on the field of battle, but also on their return to the United States. Yet the services available to veterans – particularly subsidies for college tuition and vocational training and mental health services – remain inadequate. We must affirm our statements of support for veterans by our actions. We must expand opportunities for veterans to participate in our civil society on their return to the United States.”
