Congresswoman Clarke’s Statement on the Suicide Bombings in Sochi, Russia
Brooklyn, N.Y. – Congresswoman Yvette D. Clarke released the following statement on reports of a second suicide bombing in Sochi, Russia, where the 2014 Winter Olympic Games will be held in February.
The attack, which occurred on a trolley car during rush hour, killed at least fifteen people and injured dozens more. The first suicide bombing yesterday killed an estimated seventeen people.
“These attacks have shocked the conscience of the world. Our prayers are with the victims and their families,” said Congresswoman Clarke, a member of the Committee on Homeland Security in the House of Representatives. “I and my colleagues will work with the State Department and authorities in Russia and in the community of nations to bring the terrorists who coordinated these attacks to justice.
“As the world prepares for the 2014 Winter Olympics, all nations must work with each other to end the threat of terrorism.”
