U.S. Rep. Yvette D. Clarke Receives Perfect Score from the Human Rights Campaign

BROOKLYN, NY – Today, U.S. Representative Yvette D. Clarke released the following statement after receiving a perfect score on the Human Rights Campaign Congressional Scorecard.

“I am proud to have received a perfect 100 percent on the Human Rights Campaign Congressional Scorecard for the 112th Congress. Our nation has a responsibility to focus on LGBT equality,” said Representative Clarke.

Members of Congress are rated in the Human Rights Campaign Congressional Scorecard based on their positions on issues that affect the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender community. For example, Representative Clarke supported the Employment Non-Discrimination Act, the repeal of the Defense of Marriage Act, and the Uniting American Families Act, all of which are included in the scorecard.

“The rights of all Americans are important to me, and I will continue our work to fulfill the promise of the Fourteenth Amendment – that we are entitled to equal protection of the law,” concluded Representative Clarke.
