U.S. Rep. Yvette D. Clarke on United Nations Vote to Grant “Non-Member Observer” Status to the Palestinian National Authority

BROOKLYN, NY – Representative Yvette D. Clarke joined her colleagues in Congress in criticizing the United Nations General Assembly vote on a resolution to grant “non-member observer” status to the Palestinian National Authority.

“Peace between Israelis and Palestinians depends on bilateral negotiations that result in an independent Palestinian nation established with adequate protections for the security of the people of Israel,” said Representative Clarke. “Only bilateral negotiations – not a unilateral attempt to avoid negotiations – will support the cause of peace.”

Representative Clarke commended President Obama and Ambassador Rice for their opposition to the resolution.
