Statement on the Investigation of Inadequate Health Care at VA Hospitals

Brooklyn, N.Y. – Congresswoman Yvette D. Clarke released the following statement on the investigation of allegations that the Veterans Administration provided inadequate medical care at its facilities:

“ As we have all been made aware, our nation’s Veterans Administration health care delivery system is in desperate need of reform. I share the sentiments of President Obama and my colleagues who are committed to dramatically improving the quality of care at our Veterans Administration hospitals and eliminating unnecessary delays in providing services. This effort requires a thorough investigation of the current predicament, the quality of care at each Veterans Administration hospital and more important, the experience of each veteran who comes to these hospitals for treatment. We should not assume that removing officials without a full and thorough investigation into the deficiencies of this extremely important health care delivery system will resolve the complex problems that exist for our veterans and the system that they rely upon to meet their health care needs.”
