Representative Yvette D. Clarke released the following statement supporting Saturday’s “One Nation March for Jobs and Justice” rally in Washington, DC:

“This Saturday hundreds of thousands of Americans will join together at the Lincoln Memorial in support of efforts to grow our economy now and for generations to come. As more and more American’s are living in poverty the importance of this rally cannot be overstated.”

Recently released data has shown that nearly 1 in 7 Americans is living in poverty, while millions more are dangerously close to the poverty line.

“The organizers of this rally are to be applauded in their efforts to raise awareness of this important issue. I vow to continue working hard to ensure that our children, and their children, are shown the same opportunities to prosper that we were.”
