Rep. Clarke’s Statement on Grenada’s 37th Independence Anniversary

Brooklyn, NY- Today, Congresswoman Yvette D. Clarke released the following statement recognizing the 37th Anniversary of Grenada’s Independence:

“Today the Brooklyn Community is buzzing with excitement as we celebrate Grenada’s 37th Anniversary of Independence.  Let us never forget the importance of promoting diplomacy and cross-cultural understanding between the Caribbean and the United States,” stated Congresswoman Yvette D. Clarke.

Grenada’s theme surrounding the 2011 celebration reads, “Celebrating Thirty seven-years through challenging times with optimism and resilience.”

“Many Grenadians have played a significant role in shaping America’s political and social landscape.  As a Brooklyn native whose roots are firmly planted in my Caribbean heritage, it is an honor to recognize and appreciate the many accomplishments of  the people of Grenada.  Again, congratulations on the 37th Anniversary of your independence and I look forward to celebrating many more.  One love,” concluded Congresswoman Clarke.
