Rep. Clarke Introduces Bill on Environmental Education

GREEN Act).  The goal of this legislation is to introduce environmental education into the curriculum of schools across the nation.

“Including environmental justice education in our schools is needed to move us forward in a global society,” said Rep. Clarke.  “The students of today will be the heads of our businesses, non-profits and schools tomorrow.  Providing middle school and high school students with the skills to think critically about our environment locally and globally will serve our nation well.”

This bill gives the Department of Education the explicit authority to make grant funds available for the enhancement of environmental justice education to middle schools and high schools that receive funds under Part A of Title I of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965 and schools that are located in an urban community that may be disproportionately affected by climate change, pollution, and other environmental issues.
