Rep. Clarke Celebrates Independence Day

Washington, DC – Representative Yvette D. Clarke released the following statement in observance of Independence Day.

“As we celebrate the 236th anniversary of our nation’s independence, we should remember the freedoms that are the foundation of our civil society.” said Representative Yvette D. Clarke.
“Our rights include freedom of speech, religion, privacy, and the ability to travel without interference. In addition, I believe that we have a right to health care, affordable housing, and a first-rate education. Let us continue to celebrate the possibilities for our nation to become the shining city upon a hill.
“I want to thank the women and men of the Armed Forces who have made the sacrifice to protect these freedoms and our democratic society,” concluded Representative Clarke.
