The atmosphere couldn’t have been better.

“Last Saturday as Harlem enjoyed a beautiful summer’s day, at least 200 people, most of them immigrants or the children of the foreign born listened with rapt attention at the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture on Malcolm X Boulevard as speaker after speaker listed the problems confronting 11 million-plus undocumented souls in the U.S., especially people from Africa and the Caribbean.”
