Brooklyn, N.Y. – Congresswoman Yvette D. Clarke released the following statement in honor of Veterans Day:

“Today, we honor the men and women who as members of the armed forces have sacrificed to protect our nation and the values we share as a community. On behalf of the people of the Ninth Congressional District of New York, I thank each of you for your service. We have a responsibility to support the nearly one million veterans living in New York State. As a member of Congress, I have worked with my colleagues – both Democrats and Republicans – to extend education benefits to veterans pursuing vocational and on-the-job training and on the Small Business Committee I have supported programs to hire and train veterans and to provide critical resources to small businesses owned by veterans. These brave individuals represent our highest ideals as a civil society. We will continue to support their aspirations, as members of the armed forces and as civilians.”
