Congresswoman Yvette D. Clarke Wishes Brooklyn Residents a Happy Thanksgiving

Congresswoman Yvette D. Clarke released the following statement wishing the 11th Congressional District of New York a Happy Thanksgiving:

“I would like to extend to everyone in the 11th Congressional District of New York a very Happy Thanksgiving.

“While our nation continues to fight its way out of the current economic downturn, I encourage people to take this time to acknowledge the many good things for which we should be grateful.  As a native New Yorker, I have seen the people of this great city triumphantly withstand many hardships and difficult times.  Our resilient spirit was evident after the terrorist attacks of September 11th, and has continued in our present economic climate.

“During this holiday season, let us recognize and appreciate the sacrifices being made by thousands of troops serving overseas and their families.  They remain crucial to ensuring the safety of Americans at home.  Let us also acknowledge the thousands of workers who will continue to support us in our daily lives on this holiday – the bus drivers, police officers and firefighters in our communities.

“I encourage all Brooklyn residents to recognize these things despite the difficulties that many of us are currently dealing with in this economy.  To everyone, please have a Happy Thanksgiving.”
