Congresswoman Yvette D. Clarke’s Statement on the Republican FY 2013 Budget Proposal

Today, the House Budget Committee Chairman U.S. Rep. Paul Ryan released House Republicans’ budget proposal for FY 2013.  Congresswoman Yvette D. Clarke released the following statement on the Republican budget proposal:

“This budget proposal escalates the Republican Party’s assault on the middle-class, those who want to enter the middle-class, senior citizens, and children. This plan presents serious dangers for the future of our great nation.

“It is clear that the Republican Party wants to ignore our nation’s deficit while protecting the wealthiest of this country and placing our poor, working poor and middle class at risk.  It is dangerous for the GOP to advance its policies without the moral decency of considering how this budget would affect those who are not top 1 percent earners in this nation.  The American people deserve better.

“As the budget process unfolds, know that I will continue to fight on behalf of my constituents to stop this clear attack on those struggling with real hardship.  It is a moral imperative that we empower our citizens as we address our deficit,” concluded Congresswoman Yvette D. Clarke.
