Congresswoman Yvette D. Clarke Hosts First Lady of Somalia On Capitol Hill
Today, December 1, 2011, Congresswoman Yvette D. Clarke will host a briefing on “Unemployed Youth as a Weapon of Mass Destruction: The Root Cause and Ultimate Solution to Somalia’s Problems.” At the briefing, the First Lady of Somalia, Dr. Hodan Isse will speak with Members of Congress and staffers about improving relations between the U.S. and Somalia. She will also discuss methods by which to establish shared security strategies and effectively facilitate humanitarian efforts to circumvent the strong presence of al-Shabaab, the terrorist organization impeding foreign aid in famine stricken regions in central and southern Somalia. As a member of the House Homeland Security Committee, Congresswoman Clarke looks forward to hearing how our nation can help combat the growing presence of the al-Shabaab and strengthen our nation’s homeland security efforts.
