Congresswoman Clarke’s Statement on the Start of Open Enrollment in New York State of Health

Brooklyn, N.Y. – Congresswoman Yvette D. Clarke released the following statement to announce the start of open enrollment under the Affordable Care Act, which will allow millions of Americans to access comprehensive health care at a reasonable cost.

“Last year, nearly one million people in New York State – seventy percent of whom did not previously have health insurance – enrolled in an affordable health insurance plan with New York State of Health. In Brooklyn, for example, more than 75,000 more people now have health insurance as a result of the Affordable Care Act. Now, we must continue our work to expand access to comprehensive health care for every person in Brooklyn. This year, we have an opportunity to enroll even more people as the public learns about the many choices available, often at a much lower cost than otherwise. I encourage everyone to contact New York State of Health to find the best plan for you and your family.”
