Brooklyn, N.Y. – Congresswoman Yvette D. Clarke released the following statement on Hurricane Irma:

“Along with people of good faith from around the world, I am horrified by the destruction already inflicted by Hurricane Irma in the Caribbean region, particularly in Antigua and Barbuda, St. Martin, Saint Barthélemy, Anguilla, the U.S. Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, and Haiti. We pray for the individuals who have been killed and the families who have been displaced. As the recovery begins and through the process of rebuilding, I believe that the United States and the international community have a responsibility to become actively engaged in providing all the support and resources required to prevent additional suffering and restore devastated communities. I urge the people of Brooklyn to contribute generously to legitimate organizations that are supporting these recovery efforts.
