Washington, DC — Today, Congresswoman Yvette D. Clarke (NY-09) released the following statement regarding the passing of Congressman A. Donald McEachin:

“I was devastated to hear of the loss of my dear friend and colleague, the great and kind Congressman A. Donald McEachin. Representing the best of both this nation and our Congress, Congressman McEachin fought for the people of Virginia proudly through his many years of public service. It was the privilege of my career to stand alongside Congressman McEachin on the Committee on Energy and Commerce, where, through difficult days and good ones, he persisted as a dedicated ally in our many shared pursuits of equity and prosperity for underserved communities. His passing has opened a pained rift that will never fully heal. Yet, despite that truth, I am certain Congressman McEachin’s profound legacy will guide the House of Representatives for untold decades to come. And I am certain his great name will echo these great halls long after my time within them ends. On behalf of the Clarke family and myself, our heartfelt condolences go to Donald’s loved ones and the good people of Virginia’s 4th District, whom he treasured so deeply. I pray the eternal love and grace of God greets Donald warmly, and I pray he knows his everlasting peace,” said Congresswoman Yvette D. Clarke.
