Congresswoman Clarke Hails Fallen Fire Fighter

“It is with great sadness that I extend heart felt condolences to the family of Lt. John Martinson, and to his extended family, Brooklyn’s own Engine 249 Ladder 113.  Lt. Martinson began his public service career as a New York Police Department officer for 4 years prior to his 14 years of service with Fire Department of New York, a demonstration of his commitment to service while putting his life on the line for others.  His level of dedication and sacrifice is what makes our city and nation great.  Lt. Martinson gave his life doing what he loved.  His untimely demise is tragic.”

“This loss has special significance in that I reside in the same community where Engine 249 Ladder 113 is stationed.  All the people of the company are extended family members of the community and Lt. Martinson’s loss has reverberated throughout the community.

“My sincerest condolences go out to Mrs. Martinson, the children, the extended Martinson family, and to all the women and men of fire departments nationwide who have experienced such a loss.   I join with the residents of New York’s 11th Congressional District located in central Brooklyn, and others across the country as I offer prayers and support to the family during their time of grief.”
