Clarke Statement on Signing of Higher Education Act

U.S. Rep. Yvette D. Clarke (NY-11), a member of the House Education and Labor Committee, issued the following statement today on President George W. Bush’s signing of the Higher Education Opportunity Act of 2008. The law is the first reauthorization of the nation’s primary higher education laws in a decade.

“The signing of the Higher Education Act is a momentous occasion for students and families across the nation,” stated Rep. Yvette D. Clarke.  “I applaud the efforts of Chairman Miller and the Members of the 110th Congress who were committed to making a college education affordable and accessible to all students.  I am especially proud to have taken an active role in crafting this legislation that will serve the needs of the diverse student population in central Brooklyn and beyond.”
