Brooklyn, N.Y. – Congresswoman Yvette D. Clarke released the following statement on the 2013 National Environmental Scorecard released by the League of Conservation Voters, in which she earned a score of 96% based on her support for environmental protection and conservation.

Based on twenty-eight recorded votes, Congresswoman Clarke’s score was the highest (with six of her colleagues) among members of New York State’s delegation in the House of Representatives.

“As members of society, we have a responsibility both to each other and to the generations that will follow us to protect the environment we inherited,” said Congresswoman Clarke. “In Brooklyn, we share in many wonders of nature, such as Prospect Park, Marine Park, and Sheepshead Bay – areas that millions of families and children enjoy each year. I will continue to work with the people of Brooklyn and the League of Conservation Voters to improve these resources for the future.”

U.S. Representative Yvette D. Clarke is a member of the House Committee on Small Business, Ethics, and Homeland Security, where she is the Ranking Member of the Subcommittee on Cybersecurity, Infrastructure Protection, and Security Technologies. She represents many neighborhoods in central and southern Brooklyn, NY which include Brownsville, Crown Heights, East Flatbush, Flatbush, Gerritsen Beach, Madison, Midwood, parts of Park Slope and Flatlands, Prospect Heights, Prospect-Lefferts Gardens, Sheepshead Bay, and Windsor Terrace.
