Washington, D.C. — Congresswoman Yvette D. Clarke (NY-09) released the following statement mourning the loss of trailblazing actress Cicely Tyson: 

“Cicely Tyson was a pioneer and a dynamic force for good. She brought joy to the hearts of many and maintained a level of absolute excellence that spanned her career of more than seven decades. In true Delta form, she marveled all that knew her and worked diligently to inspire future generations,” said Clarke. “As a fellow Caribbean-American woman, I was inspired by her unparalleled tenacity, grace, beauty, and poise. There will never be another like Cicely Tyson. We will miss her dearly. My thoughts and prayers are with her family and loved ones.”
