Rep. Clarke’s Statement on the Prospect-Lefferts Gardens Fire
BROOKLYN, NY – Today, U.S. Representative Yvette D. Clarke expressed sympathy for the victims of a six-alarm fire at an apartment building on New York Avenue in Prospect-Lefferts Gardens.
The fire, which may have occurred as a result of a lightning strike, caused dozens of injuries, but has not resulted in any deaths.
“My prayers are with the many families who have been displaced by this disaster,” said Representative Yvette D. Clarke. “I have been a life-long resident of this community, so I know many of the people who have been affected by this incident.”
“I thank God that everyone is safe and accounted. I pray that the victims of this tragedy have the ability to retrieve any personal items as soon as possible. We have an opportunity to demonstrate that our community will support these individuals in need of assistance. I encourage everyone in the community to extend their compassion and generosity to these families,” concluded Representative Clarke.
