WASHINGTON, D.C.- Today, Representative Yvette D. Clarke released the following statement after the 113th Congress passed a bill which would provide $50.7 billion, the remaining portion of the original $60 billion aid package to assist NY, NJ, and CT with Superstorm Sandy recovery efforts.

In a 241 to 180 vote, the measure was approved on Tuesday and sent to the Senate, which will likely pass the bill before it is delivered to President Obama for his signature. 

“I would like to thank my colleagues for rallying behind this aid package that will support thousands of residents and small business owners across the tri-state area who are struggling to rebuild their lives two months after Superstorm Sandy,” stated Representative Yvette D. Clarke.

“The passage of this bill will provide critical assistance to families in the 9th Congressional District of New York, particularly in Gerritsen Beach and Sheepshead Bay, after many weeks of uncertainty. These women and men have experienced many difficulties in filing their claims with insurance companies and FEMA, I hope the Senate will pass the bill to avoid any delays on the aid that people here in Brooklyn desperately need,” concluded Representative Clarke.
