Washington, D.C. — Today, Congresswoman Yvette D. Clarke (NY-09) issued the following statement regarding Federal Communication Commission Chairwoman Jessica Rosenworcel’s announcement of her intention to depart the FCC on January 20, 2025:

“Working alongside Chairwoman Jessica Rosenworcel throughout her distinguished and exceptional tenure at the FCC was a true privilege. At this consequential time in our nation’s history, we have been compelled by great technological progress and advancements to reexamine and reconsider countless elements of our society. The knowledge that an unyielding and compassionate advocate for America’s most marginalized, underserved, and overlooked communities held this critical responsibility at this pivotal moment has been a true comfort, and one that I will miss dearly in the years ahead.

“For more than a decade, Jessica Rosenworcel has stood as a dedicated, passionate public servant, entirely devoted to bettering her agency and this nation. Under her leadership as Chairwoman, she achieved great strides in modernizing the FCC and putting our nation in the best possible position to tackle the challenges of the 21st Century. I was proud to work alongside her in our shared mission to close the great digital divide by preserving the Affordable Connectivity Program that provided reliable internet access to millions of Americans. And I am immensely grateful for her partnership in addressing the many unprecedented challenges of the Digital Age, including the rapid rise of Artificial Intelligence.

“Make no mistake: Chairwoman Rosenworcel’s legacy within the Federal Communications Commission and our nation at-large is absolute and undeniable. I thank her for her service and look forward to witnessing the next chapter of her remarkable career.”
