Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Yvette D. Clarke (NY-09), a senior member of the House Committee on Homeland Security, issued the following statement regarding Committee Chairman Mark Green releasing sham articles of impeachment of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas:
“Lacking any valid evidence, the sham impeachment of Secretary Mayorkas is set to proceed as the latest chapter in House Republicans’ obsession with political theater. It’s clear they have no interest in working towards meaningful, bipartisan solutions at the border. Secretary Mayorkas has remained devoted to upholding the law throughout his more than three decades of public service. Policy disagreements do not rise to the standard of high crimes or misdemeanors required for impeachment. Time and time again, House Republicans have continued to put politics over people. The House must reject this disgraceful resolution.”
