Brooklyn, N.Y. – Congresswoman Yvette D. Clarke released the following statement to remind businesses, non-profit organizations, homeowners, and renters to submit a Small Business Administration disaster loan application for losses resulting from Hurricane Sandy by the December 1, 2016 deadline.

The disaster loans provide businesses and private nonprofit organizations with as much as $2 million to repair or replace disaster damaged real estate, machinery and equipment, inventory, and other assets. The loans also offer homeowners as much as $200,000 to repair or replace disaster damaged real estate, and allow both homeowners and renters are eligible up to $40,000 to repair or replace disaster damaged or destroyed personal property.

“After Superstorm Sandy, the people of Brooklyn and the New York City region demonstrated extraordinary courage in rebuilding their homes and their neighborhoods,” said Congresswoman Clarke. “In the four years since the disaster, areas such as Gerritsen Beach and Sheepshead Bay have been revitalized, as most families have returned to their homes and businesses have resumed operations. But there are still individuals and companies that need assistance to complete the process of recovery.
