My Legislation
H.R. 559: Fair, Accurate, Secure and Timely Redress Act of 2009
The bill creates an office within the Department of Homeland Security to address the concerns of individuals who believe they were unjustly delayed or prohibited from boarding a commercial flight due to being wrongly identified as a threat. It also creates a comprehensive list of individuals that were incorrectly identified and cleared to ensure they do not have to endure the process again.
H.R. 1270: Affordable Housing and Community Development Act of 2009
The bill funds the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program, along with grantee training and related technical assistance starting in fiscal year 2011. It also directs the Secretary of Housing and Urban Development to investigate the possibility of adjusting CDBG funds for inflation.
H.R. 1848: Foreclosure Prevention Act of 2009
The bill funds the Neighborhood Reinvestment Corporation with a specific focus on programs and activities that assist homeowners who are facing foreclosure. These programs will provide housing counseling and other services to homeowners in response to our nation’s housing crisis.
H.R. 1992: Immigration Fraud Prevention Act of 2009
This bill makes it a federal crime to willfully misrepresent the immigration process through fraud or false representation. It also makes it a federal crime to falsely represent oneself as an attorney or any legal representative of the federal immigration-law process.
H.R. 2070: Radiological Materials Security Act
This bill calls on the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to evaluate America’s vulnerability to the threat of a radiological attack and to enhance its preparedness and action plans, accordingly.
H.R. 2071 Caribbean Census Count Bill
This bill requires the Secretary of Commerce to allow census respondents to indicate Caribbean extraction or descent in addition to the race check-box. Allowing such information to be recorded will encourage the entire immigrant population to complete the form, giving states an accurate count of their immigrant population.
